I was quite nervous about using Nuke as I had never used a node system in editing before. It took me a few days to figure out the software from watching the tutorials and understand how the nodes work, though the masking part was quite familiar as I had done it a few times in Premiere pro.
I didn’t know how to adjust the colours in Nuke, so I made the cinemagraph via Nuke and edited the colours in Premiere pro.
Working across two softwares was more practical than difficult as the non-commercial version of Nuke that I used couldn’t export to a H.264 file, so Premiere pro came in handy for converting them.
The final animatic can be found here:
As the majority of the elements in this project were things I was unfamiliar with photography, Nuke, etc.) it took a lot of intuition and trial-and-error to see how it would turn out. Thankfully, this enabled me to come to my own understanding of how these different processes worked and the best way for me to create in this environment.
